My name is Megan, and I am a registered psychotherapist (qualifying). I am passionate about mental health, and enjoy sharing this passion with clients in a safe, empowering, and genuine way. I believe that the client is the best authority of their lived experience and my job is to help them navigate their own path through self discovery and healing.

Approach:

My approach focuses on creating an open, non-judgemental space where people can work through their struggles and develop tools that will help positively shape their experience in the world at large. I hope to create a space that is not just safe, but brave, in that it allows for growth, adaptation, and the unique expression of self.

I use a blend of mindfulness and somatic techniques to connect to the physical body as well as tools to explore an individual’s emotional and congestive landscape. Working with a client-centered focus, I tailor my work around your specific goals and needs.

I provide both virtual and phone services that take a client-centered and trauma-informed approach to individual therapy. I use a variety of evidence-informed modalities including: mindfulness and self compassion, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and internal family systems (parts work), solution focused brief therapy. I also frequently use polyvagal theory to help as a framework for somatic and regulation-based techniques.

Areas of focus:

I work with individuals experiencing a variety of challenges including grief, burnout, anxiety, self-esteem, and confidence. I have seen many who want to learn how to be more gentle with themselves, rather than living in reaction to the people and circumstances around them.

Anxiety, Burnout, Depression, Grief, Perfectionism, Relationship Issues, Self esteem / Confidence, Stress management, Trauma, Life Transitions.

Education & Background:

My career in wellness began in 2007 when I started working as a massage practitioner focusing on stress management. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Simon Fraser University, with a double major in English and History. In 2011, I completed a 200-hour Hatha teacher training, and in 2017 a 500 hour movement and meditation teacher training. I have over a decade’s teaching experience of mindfulness, meditation, and movement practices.

I returned to school and graduated in 2015 with a diploma and a license to practice registered massage therapy with a practical focus in nervous system regulation. I am currently fulfilling the final credits of a Bachelor’s of Health Sciences from Thompson Rivers University. In 2023 I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling and Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a qualifying registered psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Hi, my name is Sophia Suzuki.

Therapy can be a helpful tool in navigating the unexpected challenges and transitions that life throws at us, at all stages of life. As a therapist, I am privileged to be able to support clients in their journey of shaping a life that feels more meaningful and authentic.

Reaching out for support is a courageous act of self-care. I believe each person has their unique strengths and capacity for growth, and therapy can be one tool in rediscovering the skills available to us to move through life’s challenges.

I believe a strong therapist-client fit is essential to a positive therapy experience, and I’m eager to explore how therapy could be better catered to your needs. I strive for therapy to be a space that promotes wholeness, safety, and acceptance of our different identities and complexities.

My approach:

No one client is the same, and my priority lies in finding an approach (or combination of approaches!) that work for you. My therapeutic approach is primarily relational and collaborative - I believe the client is the expert in the therapy room, and I am there to provide support in achieving the goals we outline together.

When introducing more tangible tools or frameworks into sessions, I pull from a variety of evidenced-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as narrative therapy and existential therapy.

Areas of focus: ADHD, Anxiety (Social anxiety, generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder), Trauma and PTSD, Depression, Adolescent mental health, Grief, Racial and cultural identity, Relational issues, Chronic illness, Life transitions, Self-esteem/self-worth, Difficult relationship with food/disordered eating

My desire to work as a psychotherapist began with my own personal journey and experience accessing counselling services. There are moments in life when we all need support, when we deserve to be respected and validated as we navigate challenges in our lives.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and hold membership with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. My educational background includes a Masters of Counselling Psychology, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health and a Bachelors of Arts and Science in Psychology and Biology.

I primarily use Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as the basis for my work with clients. My work includes looking at how the past may be influencing the present, unpacking behaviours, regulating emotions, interpersonal relationships, impulsivity, and increasing mindfulness. I have extensive training and experience with a biopsychosocial approach, I provide support that looks at people as a whole: physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing. I have worked alongside individuals with a range of concerns and have worked specifically with borderline personality disorder, personality disorders, trauma and complex trauma.

Every person has their own unique experiences and stories which are as valid and true as all others. As a therapist I support folks to find balance and to validate the often opposing truths that exist in our realities. I work with my clients to recognize their needs and support them in creating meaningful change where desired. I work collaboratively with clients to recognize the broader cultural and social factors that have influenced them. In all my work I acknowledge the impact trauma can have and how this can affect our understanding of the world and the relationships around us.

Feeling a connection with your therapist is important, if you are interested in support and/or want to connect with me more please feel free to reach out to me! The first step can be hard and it is my goal to ensure that this is the right fit for you.

My name is Alejandra (Allie). One of the most interesting things about my profession is learning the resilience and strength someone can build. I will be helping you to discover your potential. A key component of the therapeutic relationship is to really connect with the counsellor. To achieve this, I want to provide you with a safe space that makes you feel respected and acknowledged.

Approach:

I grew up in the north of Mexico but moved to Canada several years ago; this allowed me to be culturally aware and understand the acculturation process of working with immigrants. My work has provided me with experience working with women who have suffered domestic violence, trauma, grief, sexual abuse, and people who suffer from disabilities, mainly acquired brain injury (ABI). My primary focus has been practicing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and trauma intervention from a compassion-based perspective. Additionally, I help folks who want to reconnect to their partners and improve their communication skills by using the Gottman Institute method.

Having another set of eyes when you face a problem allows you to see a different perspective. By teaching you to be compassionate towards yourself, I will inspire you to change and grow. If you are in the process of reinventing or rediscovering yourself due to a traumatic experience, or disability or because you are a newcomer, let’s talk!

Areas of Focus:

Anxiety

Depression

Disabilities

Trauma

PTSD

Anger management

Sexual abuse

Domestic Violence

Relationships

Improve communication skills

Improved self-esteem

Education:

In Mexico, I went to ELPAC University to earn my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a focus on crisis intervention. After that, I completed a master’s degree in the art of counselling psychology at Yorkville University. This degree qualified me to become a registered psychotherapist in Ontario. My passion is helping people find the tools they need to cope with life’s challenges.

My name is Kandice and I am a Registered Psychotherapist. As a therapist I help people work through many different kinds of challenges, whether that is looking at how their day-to-day lives are being impacted or working through deeper-rooted concerns. There are times in life when we all struggle, helping individuals work through the challenges they face in life by walking beside them is my passion and is always the main focus in my work.

I hold membership with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, as well as a Bachelors of Arts with a major in Psychology and Minor in Family and Child Studies from the University of Guelph. The therapeutic modalities I primarily use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). The foundational approach I use with all of my clients is a Person-Centered approach, otherwise known as Client-Centered Therapy (CCT).

I believe that all clients are unique and are the experts in their own lives, in session I put this belief into practice by helping clients discover their own path to healing. With all the individuals I support I explore in-depth the concerns they are experiencing, including looking at the emotions and behaviours we attach to our experiences. In all my work I use a trauma-informed lens. A trauma-informed approach acknowledges the impact trauma can have, recognizes the symptoms and looks at how this can affect a person’s understanding of the world and their relationships. From this approach I help clients understand how experiences of trauma can impact us all and seek to help them make sense of this in the context of their current lives. In addition to supporting clients, I also strongly believe it is important to continue to strive in my own growth and education, and to keep up with best-practice to ensure the best support for my clients.

Taking the first step in therapy can be overwhelming and intimidating which is why I strive to create a warm and welcome space for my clients. Please feel free to contact me or our office with any questions you might have.

Areas of focus I have experience working with individuals providing one-on-one therapy, from a variety of populations. I have experience working with youth, adolescents/teens, adults, and LGBTQ+ community. While my goal is to provide support to clients with a variety of needs, my areas of focus include: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship/family conflict, attachment, mood disorders, stress, phobias, suicide, LGBTQ+, and self-esteem.

Do you often feel that your experience with anxiety weighs you down? Do you ever feel that your depression symptoms make you feel stuck? Do you find it challenging to make social connections? Or, do you feel overwhelmed with everything that is happening in the world right now? Together, we can work on strategies and tools that can address some of the root causes of your challenges and build a sense of meaning.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read more about my experience and the work that I am deeply passionate about, which centres on creating healing spaces to support mental well-being. Everyone’s story is authentic and in my work I strive to create a space that allows you to share your story while feeling heard and understood. The path of recovery looks different for everyone, together we can discover what that might be for you. For instance, exploring the mind-body connection to heal trauma, discovering how past experiences are connected to the present, or learning how our challenges are connected to larger-system and structural realities that can be oppressive and impact our mental health.

To share more about myself, I have been a practicing clinician for about 8-years. I initially completed my graduate diploma in Art Therapy and then did a Masters in Counselling Psychology. I am a Registered Psychotherapist under the College of Registered Psychotherapy of Ontario (CRPO). I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Community Psychology at Wilfried Laurier University. My research focus is on ways of decolonizing the mental health space through the lens of social justice and radical healing.

I believe in a common humanity, which understands suffering as a universal human experience. What this means is that you are not alone. Even the feeling of isolation is part of the human experience. Whether you are feeling distressed, would like to deepen your understanding of your self, or would like to experience more joy and fulfilment in your life, I offer a safe space for you to unpack and be yourself. As someone who has personal experience healing from trauma, I have an appreciation for how past experiences and traumatic events can get in the way of our ability to form trusting relationships with others. Part of my work as a therapist is to work with you to demystify and gain a greater understanding of the roots to your unwanted feelings, thoughts, and actions that keep you stuck. With this understanding, we can move forward together to begin embracing a more purposeful and fulfilling life. I look forward to getting to know you and working alongside you in your healing journey.

Approach

My work as a therapist is built on a foundation of safety and respect. Healing can occur when we feel safe to open up, explore, and take risks in a supportive relationship. I practice from a trauma-centered lens that is rooted in attachment, systems, social learning, conflict, and psychodynamic theory. I also take an integrative approach, which recognizes the intimate relationship between our emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, and social wellbeing. In seeking to attend to the whole person, I use a variety of approaches including:

Somatization: Building awareness and fostering a re-connection with our physical body.

Emotion Focused and Mindfulness work: Building greater understanding and acceptance of thoughts and emotions held and experienced in the mind and body.

Trauma Processing: Processing and making meaning out of memories and traumatic experiences through talk therapy, art therapy, and body-focused work.

Therapeutic modalities primarily used: Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Somatic Body Movement.

Areas of Focus

My areas of focus include addictions/eating disorders, anxiety, childhood trauma/attachment traumas, depression, discrimination/power imbalances, emotional disturbances, identity, LGBTQ+, life transitions, parenting, personal growth/development, relationship/family conflict, self esteem, spiritual seeking and exploration, stress, suicidal ideation, trauma/post traumatic stress

Educational Background

I am a registered Social Worker (registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers). My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts earned at the University of Guelph, where I majored in Psychology and minored in Family and Child studies. I then earned a graduate diploma in Social Service Work at Fanshawe College. Finally, I completed a Master’s in Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University.
